SPS Security (Guarding) is successfully covering security at the busy Derby College campuses in the Midlands. The large educational security contract began in July last year.

The contract, which includes an on-site team of between up to 20 security officers, is the latest in a well-established education sector for SPS Security, part of the SPS Group. The business works for a range of education establishments in the north of England, including Doncaster College and Leeds College of Buildings.

Derby College is a further education centre supporting around 26,000 learners each year, with sites located within Derby and South East Derbyshire.

Dan Little, Security Operations Manager at SPS Security, commented: “We began working with the College and the previous supplier last summer to ensure a smooth transition. The contract was to provide security and manned guarding for the whole site and surrounding campuses.

“It has been a large contract to whip into shape and we knew we wanted to do it quickly and efficiently for the client. We have between 15-20 officers and 2 patrol men operating on six different campuses some of which are up to 10 miles away. It has been a challenge, but the site is now settled and running extremely smoothly.

“The education arena is vitally important to get just right, there is no room for mistakes and we pride ourselves on the high quality service.”

SPS Security has also introduced Partner Tuff to the site which is the latest technology to assist frontline security personnel, providing proof of location and activity in real time, the ability to log and capture incidents and effective task management.
