Auto External Defibrillation (AED) Training

AED Training Level 2, also known as Automated External Defibrillation training, is an accredited program designed to further equip learners with first aid skills. This training is especially beneficial for workplace first-aiders who have access to a defibrillator.

Through this qualification, learners will gain an understanding of the importance of cardiopulmonary resuscitation and AED training in the survival chain. The course duration is a single day, comprising a minimum of 6 contact hours.

The topics that this qualification covers are deemed critical by Skills for Health in ensuring the safe, quick and effective application of cardiopulmonary resuscitation and automated external defibrillation. Successful completion of this course earns learners a Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and AED Training Certificate.

Evaluation of this qualification entails a practical demonstration of competency, a Multiple Choice Examination (MCE), or oral/written questioning. You can register for the MCE option or oral/written questioning using the relevant links provided.

The AED Training qualification typically takes a day to complete. It is a 1 credit program, consisting of 6 guided learning hours and 6 hours of minimum contact time.

Assessment for this qualification includes a practical demonstration of competence and a short open-response knowledge test that requires students to respond to a prescribed series of questions.

Upon successful completion, learners are competent in using an automated external defibrillation machine for three years, after which a refresher course is recommended. Successful learners might also consider undertaking more advanced first aid qualifications like the HABC Level 2 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (QCF) or the HABC Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work (QCF).
